Never had to call a gig off.

You know, last Saturday’s gig was very difficult. I suffering from a severe throat illness that made my voice shot. My range was hampered severely, and I was struggling to hit my notes, let alone hear my notes. My voice was completely gone for I had a throat virus, and it seriously questioned whether the first PSB gig was on or off. Of course, I never talked about cancellation to the group, as I was hanging to every inch of positiveness I can get. Sometimes, that’s all your mind and body needs, positiveness. Specially in a time where negative feeling is pulling you down, and it seems that the odds are not in your ground, a quick switch to positiveness is what can put you back into focus. You never want to feel defeated, for if you turn to that kind of feeling, then you can kiss your plans goodbye, and plans of doing the first PSB gig I wouldn’t miss for the world.

Here’s a song we did that night, a medley of Hey Jude/Yesterday (the Beatles)

The gig went well, and we were delighted to entertain our guests in an intimate setting. We have another gig at February 12. Come check it out if you can. To get the latest updates and information regarding events, add us on

I’d like to thank the people who came out and supported us. You guys were great, special thanks to Flamestone Grill, Shane McCardle, Jeff Cabralda, Zabrina Marie, and Cheryl Lingal. Thanks for all your support. Love you all.

Today is Wednesday, My favorite day.

I like Wednesday. It brings me the right amount of anticipation for the days to come. I say this because I like the feeling of looking forward to something like Friday and Saturday. Other people like Friday Saturday, because it the time for partying and such… but what happens when you wake up to Sunday??? Huh?? It’s all over baby. Nothing really to anticipate but Sunday which you may spend vegetating, and Monday which most people dread. But with Wednesday, you’re in the middle of the week, the Monday doldrums had just passed, and you’re almost to the fun part (Weekend).

Poker, NL Hold’em
I kinda miss going to Boulevard (code name Boules between my friend Jumaaaa and Myself). I’m in the plus there, but it’s been a while since I’ve played. I feel the itch to bust somebody with my 8s 9s stackers. Funny because I watched Maverick the other day, you know that movie with Mel Gibson and Jodie Foster; wild west and poker. Pretty cool. I know, I know… very random, but it had poker in it, and I wanna play.

What’s your favorite day? And what’s your favorite poker hand? I guess you just found out a tell from me, or did you?

Me singing Just the way you are – (Bruno Mars song)

Hey guys!

So the banging has stopped on my side of the building (see last video for explanation), and I get to record again.

Here’s my rendition of Bruno Mars’ Just the way you are!

This is song is awesome. I had to create the music from scratch because there’s absolutely no instrumental anywhere in the internet. But… nonetheless, it was a fun song to recreate.

I hope you guys like it.

Forgetful. I learned my lesson.

I’m probably one of the most forgetful person you’ll ever meet. I blame it on the 2 concussions I have suffered from snowboarding and martial arts. Or maybe I shouldn’t since my mind is always at a blur, and cannot stand still. ADHD? I don’t really know. Maybe a little bit of column ‘A’ and ‘B’. To give you an example, I used to have a classmate from high school to whom I always had my locker side by side with. I spoke to her every single day at school. A year after I graduated, I was so happy to see her at the mall, yet, I had forgotten her name. Who would do that? Only me. It’s truly shameful of me.

It doesn’t really help as a musician to be forgetful. As a singer, I constantly have to memorize music lyrics. But to tell you the truth, I have a really hard time doing so. I may be able to memorize it today, but ask me tomorrow, and I can probably sing only the chorus, and maybe the first verse.

Whenever I write music, one minute, I’d have the greatest melody thought out in my head. Then I watch some tv, eat dinner… and realize I had forgotten what I just came up with. I got fed up with this routine, because forgetting music sucks and always left a bad aftertaste in my mouth. So I got into recording voice memo’s on my iphone. I carry my phone a lot, and it’s proven useful. When I was in my teen years (when I really got into writing music), I used to carry a panasonic recorder with me all the time. The iphone has now superseded the panasonic’s role and I’m glad it’s there. No more bad aftertaste.

So with that said I admit that I am forgetful. It’s not a proud trait I have, and I’ve been trying my best to improve it. I really believe I will have Alzheimer’s when I’m older, but I’ll fight it until I throw it down.

In Other News:
– I bought a new camera, and it’s awesome. The picture you see is from my new DSLR. I love it.
– I also started writing music again.
– Big 2 Films is going to have an online TV show. Stay tuned for that!

Until Next time,

Stop the banging.

Hello my friends,

For the past few weeks I’ve been waking up to a loud banging sound. It started a couple weeks ago when we had that full week of sun. I decided to open my window for the night for it was too hot in the morning. Then…. BANG! BANG! BANG! Rude awakening. It’s the worst alarm clock ever.

No, it wasn’t the sound of Gun Shots, nor do I live beside a fireworks warehouse, and I take it back, waking up to those sounds will be the worst alarm clock ever. They’re building a new Hi-Rise beside mine, and they’re driving the piles in. It’s annoyingly loud.

I made a video about it. Watch how I become crazy.

It’s affecting my recording. I always try to record in the morning because it’s my only free time. I’m at the Taekwondo Gym in the afternoon evening, and I’m filming during the weekend.

I guess I have to find a time or wait for it to stop.

Check out the video.

Your friend,

A street with my name on it? Crazy!

My name, Philbert, isn’t that common. Apparently, while I was being born, my father and his siblings were frantically searching the “Worldbook Encyclopedia of Names” for suitable handles that would brand me for life. They chose a bunch of names that they liked, put them in a box, and decided to choose my name lottery style. My dad’s youngest sibling, Uncle Ferdimar, was the one who ended up drawing the ballot. He accidentally drew two ballots, one said Philbert, and the other said Simon.

Philbert, according to Worldbook Encyclopedia, meant very bright, Simon meant gift of God. Cool, I’ll take it! But I don’t believe in those meanings. It’s the person that makes the name, not the name that makes the person.

I’ve never met another Philbert in this world, and I don’t see my name anywhere else. I’m sure there are other Philbert’s out there, but the main point is that my name is uncommon.

Until my sister and I drove out to visit our family in a city called Mission, here in British Columbia. It was by pure accident that I discovered this street. It was because we got lost that I found out that Philbert St. existed.

I didn’t know what to do! There, sitting on top of this huge Stop sign, was Philbert St. I had to take a picture

Philbert Street

It was pretty cool experience for me. I would have never thought that a street would share the same name. Apparently there’s a Simon Street in Mission too. Yet, I think the Philbert Street experience more of a find since, like I said, my name is uncommon.

Until Nextime,
